Meet La Pitchoune: Food paradise and former summer home of Julia Child - nestled in the Hills of Provence.
3 bedroom cottage, with exquisitely designed Chef's kitchen, the only other one like it is in the Smithsonian! A property that catalyzed the food movement in 1970s Provence. Exquisite in its maintenance, built on the homestead of Simone Beck, the coauthor collaborator for "Mastering the Art of French Cooking".
About the cottage
This cottage sits on well-maintained acres of gardens nestled just outside the community of Grasse. Easy access to beaches, perfume factories, grocery stores, and more. A secluded estate of a few homes, just off a main road.
La Pitchoune's 3 bedroom, 3.5 Bathroom property boasts glorious gardens, and of COURSE a kitchen that is designed for cooking. Yes, it still has the pegboard known and loved by fans the world over. The space can comfortably sleep 6 adults, and we have additional sleeping spaces (think shared sleeping mats) for children (up to 4 easily).
A yoga space, a 16-foot canvas tent, is available in the garden during the summer months. It can host up to 6 students or so comfortably.
Some times of the year, we have space for an additional 3 people (for an additional fee) on the same property. In the off season, La Pitchoune can be yours.
Julia & La Pitchoune
La Pitchoune was built by Julia and Paul Child in the 1960's and has hosted hundreds of famous food influencers over the years. In the 1990's Kathie Alex turned it into a cooking school, Cooking with Friends in France, and is now the home of The Courageous Cooking École de Cuisine.
La Pitchoune is not a hotel. It is a living, breathing home that is and has been used heavily as a cooking school and home for nearly 50 years. It is also an indoor/outdoor living space, with many many nooks and crannies! It is always clean as a whistle when you arrive, every surface scrubbed and whisked. But know that it might not be up to the expectations of a traditional hotel go-er. It is an old house, with the same charms attached.
